Professional Visit to Mother Dairy Plant of the Students of Department of Food Processing and Technology, GBU

The Department of Food Processing and Technology, Gautam Buddha University, recently organized a professional visit on 24 February, 2024 for the students of B. Tech., M.Tech., and M.Sc. Programs to the Mother Dairy Plant located at Patparganj, Delhi. Such academic visits, that are part of the course curriculum of B. Tech.-VI Semester, is an endeavour to augment students’ knowledge of operations of a food processing plant. The visit provided invaluable insights into the complex processes involved in dairy products’ manufacturing process and distribution system. The tour commenced with a comprehensive overview by Mr. RKR Pillai, Senior Superintendent, Mother Dairy, wherein the GBU students were briefed about the plant’s operations, distribution system and the intricate process of milk production. Also, the details about production process, including quality control measures and technological advancements employed to ensure the freshness and purity of the final products, were explained. The students were later demonstrated the state-of-the-art machinery and technology employed in milk processing, pasteurization and packaging.
